MFUB - The Faculty of Medicine
The Faculty of Medicine (MFUB) (http://med.bg.ac.rs/), the Centre of Bone Biology (https://www.anthropologylab-bg.com/) is a part of the “Niko Miljanic”, Institute of Anatomy. It grew out of the Laboratory of Bone Biology and Bioanthropology, founded in 1995. The basic research topic of the Centre is: bio/forensic anthropology, increased fragility of the skeleton due to aging and chronic diseases, biomechanics/mechanobiology, and functional osteology of the bone system, etc. The Centre has a rich paleopathological collection with over 1000 samples originating from different archaeological sites from chronologically different periods. By applying the modern methods and equipment that the Centre has (micro-CT, atomic force microscope, DEXA scan, etc.); the Centre is a key place in the field of paleodemography research of ancient populations, paleopathological profile, nutrition, health care, paleoepidemiological studies, bioidentity and the reconstruction of funeral practices of the past population. The synergistic work of experts from different fields (archaeologists, bio/forensic anthropologists, anatomists, pathologists, orthopedists, radiologists) within one research team provides a direct opportunity for an interdisciplinary approach and a more versatile analysis of the research subjects. In accordance with the area of interest, research questions and achievements of the members of the Centre, we believe that our SRO has good coverage and relevance for the realization of project tasks.
FBUB -The Faculty of Biology
FBUB -The Faculty of Biology (https://www.bio.bg.ac.rs/) is a teaching-scientific institution that deals primarily with education in the field of biological sciences at all levels of study. Within the scope of scientific and research activities, it covers a wide variety of aspects of biology from basic to applied research in the fields of basic biological sciences, molecular biology and ecology. The scientific activity of the Faculty of Biology is carried out at three institutes, as well as within 12 centers, such as the Centre for Human Molecular Genetics, founded in 1997 diagnoses of hereditary human diseases. Within the center there is a laboratory with modern equipment for the analysis of DNA molecules (such as an automatic sequencer and an apparatus for real-time PCR). The faculty includes the newly formed Centre for Forensic and Applied Molecular Genetics. In the previous project cycle from 2011, he participated in 49 scientific projects, 11 of which as a research manager.
STOMF - The School of Dental Medicine
STOMF – The School of Dental Medicine (https://www.stomf.bg.ac.rs/) , University of Belgrade is the leading educational, scientific and technical institution in the field of dentistry in Serbia. It has been founded in 1948 and represents one of the oldest faculties of dental medicine in Southern Europe. The Faculty main task is training the future dentists but also a lot of effort has been put into scientific research. The School of Dental Medicine has several teaching-scientific and health organizational units, such as a clinic for children’s and preventive dentistry, a clinic for jaw orthopedics, a clinic for dental diseases, etc. Given that the cooperation between the Faculty of Medicine and School of Dental Medicine is very close and lasts for decades, the involvement of colleagues employed at the School of Dental Medicine would be of significant help, primarily in determining age based on the eruption and replacement of deciduous and permanent teeth, oral hygiene, and dental and jaw disease. In accordance with this, we will use modern orthopan methods, x-rays and other auxiliary analytical and technical methods for examining dental status and dental status.
UBFZF - The Faculty of Philosophy
UBFZF – The Faculty of Philosophy (https://www.f.bg.ac.rs/) , University of Belgrade is the oldest university faculty in Belgrade, founded in 1838. Teaching takes place within 10 study groups. Within the Department of History there is the Department of Byzantology, which represents one of the umbrella institutions for Byzantology in Europe. At the time of its establishment, the Department of Byzantology was the third to be established worldwide, after Munich and Paris. Since its establishment, it has actively participated in scientific projects and public presentations. In accordance with the institution’s position, access to a rich library and experts, the inclusion of the UBFZF and the Department of Byzantology would help the critical review and interpretation of the literature relevant to the project. Within the Faculty of Philosophy, in 1881, the Department of Archaeology was established. Today, the Department represents a unique and crucial archaeological institution in Serbia. The Department is primarily the institution for education of future archeologists. Additionally, the teachers and researchers of the Department are strongly devoted to the research of social and humanitarian sciences, with a primary focus on the field of archaeology, as well as publishing scientific results at a national and international level. Their work takes in the full scope of the earliest hominin traces through early hunter-gatherers and the origins of agriculture to the classical and medieval periods and the ‘recent past’. They also cover the environmental settings in which ancient communities existed.
